trying something different...in the good old days..the rural folks in Kenya would express their feeling for each other in the most colourful way..I have tried to capture this.


A Kenyan Expression of Love

sweetheart
you are the only button in my shirt
I am drawn to you
like a shadow is drawn to its owner
you are as sweet
as the arrow-roots growing in papa's farm

when I think of you
my heart goes boom!
like the speakers of the jukebox
at the only bar in the village
baby!
you are the only fish in my ocean

the love that you give me
is as tasty as the chicken
that mama cooks when we have visitors
you are the margarine in my bread
you are the spice in my food
for you...I wear my sunday-best outfit everyday

my love for you
is like the love a maasai man has
for his cattle
I love you in the same way
that a luhya man loves his chicken
your name is the screen saver on my computer

darling,
like the mobile phone company,celtel
you make the difference
other women want to steal me from you
but baby! like the other mobile phone company,safaricom,
you are the better option
