They say you can't always get what you want,
but that sometimes you get what you need.

I'm not sure the song is true, but I've come to believe
that a lot of the time, you get what you see.

This is an oddly complex notion. Do you get what you want, see, or deserve? Do you get left-overs? Do you get a second chance? I suppose the key word is "sometimes."

When I was small and would make mistakes as grown ups
see things, I would sometimes be scolded with.
"See what you get?"
I guess growing up is like that.
