sister

hey sis, what's cooking,
what is on your mind
nothing special,
life and death, that's all

your voice so like my own
yet so completely yours

hey sis, how was your day
oh, just the usual
life and death, thats all
and we had pancakes

past and present mix in every word
you keep my soul connected

hey sis, you know i love you
' course you do, i love you too
well i gotta go, the kids
are tearing up a storm

we'll talk again tomorrow, of life and death
and nothing special

I've discovered you..your poems...you have awakened welcome feelings in me...this one reminds me of English 'Kitchen Sink' theatre. The banal flatly-delivered words that hide a world of the unnamed existentiel crises.

This presents itself as this and that, but there's a deeper meaning to the surface of these words... a strong bond and love shared between siblings. I very much can appreciate the feelings the words of this fine poem create in me as I feel this with my brother, whom I love very dearly... Very nice - thanks.

Nicely done. I especially liked:

hey sis, how was your day
oh, just the usual
life and death, thats all
and we had pancakes

This resonates with me, my sister and I talk about nothing special and life and death. We've had some of each. She is my rock. A snarky, snipping rock, but my rock nonetheless. You caught the causal comfort that (some) siblings have.
