[29 Sep 2009] - Editorial Update

Written 2009-09-29

Hi everyone,

First of all we would like to thank you for your endearing, heartwarming patience. We realise that the Editorial updates have recently been far and few between.  This is something we had hoped to avoid and offer our apologies for letting it happen.  The problems which have arisen from the migration were never envisaged and solving them has been quite overwhelming for the technical supporters of the site.

In between maintaining their own jobs, they've been working very hard with the hope to provide some good news.  And because of this, sight was lost of the time between editorial updates.  So that you at least know what's going on, we realise now it will be far better if we just keep you informed regularly whether the news is good or bad.

We, the members of the editorial and technical team, including the owner, have been long-time supporters of PoetBay and it is our love for PoetBay's community and our concern for the site's demise that compels us to do our best despite the difficulties we are facing.  The owner continues to plan for PoetBay's future, for all of us, but nothing new can happen just yet until the current situation is resolved.  The technical team's wish by keeping you updated in this manner is to reciprocate the consideration you have for us and to share with you our dedication to reviving PoetBay to the place we've all come to appreciate so dearly through the years.

So on to a little bit of good news.  Although some of you may already be aware of this :

- uploading a picture to a text is now fixed. (YAY!)

Other fixes that we've been working on :

- Read Texts list & Calendar
- Deleting private messages individually

So you are a little bit more aware of the challenges we are facing, these problems have been fixed on the test site, but stubbornly refuse to work on the live site.  We had hoped that we would have access to the previous developers' considerable knowledge to help us with this specific issue, but unfortunately this has not been possible.  However, we will get these fixes to work on the live site as soon as we possibly can.

In the meantime, for those who have reached the limit of allowed private messages and can't open or send new messages, you won't be able to individually select and delete your messages until we get this fixed on the live site, however you can clear out your outbox (Sent) by pressing the ‘Delete all messages' button.  This will in fact delete all of your messages in the outbox and will allow you to use Private Messages again.

Sincerely,

Isabelle

[08 Sep 2009] - News update

Written 2009-09-08

Hi everyone,

We apologise for the inconveniences the glitches have been causing you in the last week.  We realise there are many and would like to inform you that we are actively working to resolve them as quickly as possible.  Many of you have reported the problems you are experiencing and we would like to thank you for taking the time to do so.  The information you provide tremendously helps us at this time.

In an effort to resolve the unforeseen problems due to the site transfer, we will be contacting the previous web developers of the site.  This would not be our normal course of action as there is ample technical experience within the team, however, since the previous web developers have invaluable knowledge and history of the site, it may well assist us in resolving the issues quicker.  The quickest resolution is ultimately our main concern as we feel it is extremely important to do everything possible in order to maintain the valued support of our members.  We will keep you up to date with any news.

Thank you for your patience and your continued support!

Sincerely,

Isabelle
