chilled

Read this   she says

~

'And he wrapped the garden in the sky

and the house in the garden

and packed the lot in a handkerchief

and went off

lone as an arctic fox

through the cold

unending

rain

into the world.'

~ Miroslav Holub, 'Fairy Tale'

From the Czech, (trans. by George Theiner)

~

is cold the absence of heat

if so

you are not cold   if not cold   what

what is this stillness   this isolation

this pulling away

is this apparent chilliness in fact your beauty

and if you are cool at the core

why me

who is anything but   who is as guileless as witless

you make me sigh greatly   marketa

i do not know why

i do not know why you are here   and what is coming

and how much it will hurt   or how glad i may be

if we have shared a life   for now   one quilt is not enough

~

but i am beginning to see

What's going to happen?
Hypothermia?
Will quilts be enough to stop the freezing?
Will both live? Will both die?
Will they separate?
These are questions but my heart hurts because this, to me, is life inside, deeply painful, lived out life.
Powerful!
It is amazing how you can relate so well, so much, in so little space, with so few words.

I feel cold, literally.

This is a shocker, the words and feelings so strong. Interesting analogy of heat and cold too. Cold makes one shiver. A great piece full of obscure and clear thoughts.

Perhaps I am, too. This has been an interesting progression.

The updated version's much better. The prelude works as an apt foreshadowing tool.

your first meditation made me think: is cold the absence of heat. i see here the opposition of two languages, the language of sciences told by the deformation of our words, we oppose cold and heat in english while in fact in physics, they aren't one another in opposition.
