Silent Smile

I can’t see your face, but I know you close to me
I can smell your fragrance in the air
But now I know you’ll always be a ghost to me
Just a shadow passing by me on the stairs
You know I will love you forever and a day
And I’ll miss you until we meet again
But for now
I’ll bide my time
Until once again
I’ll make you mine

I tried so very hard to keep you from leaving me
But memories, thoughts and prayers couldn’t make you stay
So in the end, I thank you for believing in me
And being by my side every day.
Maybe a silent smile or just a salty tear
Just one small sign to show me that you’re here
Then I will know
That I can rest
You’ll give me strength
To beat the best
