Even The Crown

Even the Crown
Wept
As Elizabeth,
It's favourite daughter
Lay beneath it.

Even the trumpets
Wept their perfect
Salute,
As loud and as clear
To Elizabeth the Great.

Even the crowds
Wept silently
As they paid homage
To the greatest
Queen that
Ever lived.

It may be impossible for an American to fully appreciate what this Queen, and all Monarchs, meant and mean to the British, but what we have witnessed through media, and through poems such as yours, a sense is conveyed, and, I think, through that sense—appreciated.

We grieve with you.
