My First Lesson in Anti-Semitism
Oh! I remember the look
On Father Christmas's face,
When I told him,
Aged 3,
That actually
I was Jewish.
It was Christmas, 1956,
On the children's ward
Of Hammersmith Hospital.
He had just
Presented me
With a beautiful, blonde
Goddess of a doll,
But I felt
That I had
Misled him
And so blurted out
My faith!
He deftly switched
The 2-foot doll
With a 6-inch pygmy!
My first lesson
In anti-semitism
And white supremacy!
