A Gentle Autumn Day

Tendrils of gossamer morning mist

mingle softly with the smoke of

fires distant on the crimson ridge

ancient thatch drips diamonds

on worn iridescent flagstones

a veiled sun lifts night's cloak

spent golden leaves pause on dew

spattered grasses fatigued from

their summer's frenetic toil

thus begins a gentle autumn day

What a beautiful day it would be to begin like that...you inspired me to begin my days inhaling all of these.

Lovely. I do love Autumn, it is full of contrasts; and the colours - oh, just magnificent. If there is one word I am in LURVE with - it's tendrils! And you slipped it in there - wow, tendrils of morning mist! Exquisite. I like the idea of the leaves being tired from all their hard work in Summer. And here comes Autumn, taking its time, gentle as it takes us through the crimson, gold, iridescent day on to long, sleepy dark evenings (and all that food I love so much, stews, dumplings, and spicy puddings.)
You really got to me with this.
