In response to Thomas Perdue's 'Darkness'

Light at the End of the Tunnel!

Life is not all darkness alone,
Yes, there is a lot of misery and suffering,
Yes, there is a lot of strife and struggle,
Yes, there is generation gap between parents and children,
Yes, there is death at the end of life!
But, life is not pointless,
Life is not useless.

Education is necessary-
to see the difference between light and dark,
It does not separate children and parents,
It does not make children smarter than parents,
This difference between parents and children
It is an indication of progress of life.

The poet will go on feeling,
The philosopher will go on pondering
Over the meaning of life,
The writer will go on showing the light...

Because ultimately,
Light will dispel the darkness,
Just strike a tiny match in the darkness,
And see, how the darkness is immediately gone!

Death is the end of every life,
So, that life can be lived to its full capacity,
So, that you don't say at the end of the day:
"I wasted my life!"
So, that you can say at the end of the day:
" I have lived my life!"

There is a line by a famous poet:
"If there is no Death,
What is the fun of Life?"

This is my take on
Life, Death,
Darkness and Light;
All is not lost,
There is still hope for this world.

There is still a light at the end of the dark tunnel...

Dear Zoya:

This poem was very moving: I think that it calls people to action--to live life to the fullest. I already know what that's like: being a two-time cancer survivor. I totally understand what you are saying here. In the end, as I say to people, Carpe Diem. Take care.

There is still a light at the end of the dark tunnel" The phlosophy of life is well reflected in htese lines. Yes. life is a rainbow when we live live and desert devoid of any greenery. But, with hope we can reach the edge of the tunnel and see the light bright!

Truth follows your enlightened steps!

The tunnel are surrounding us, but I can see the light.

You are absolutely right Christian, but some time it is necessary to state the obvious, to make people see the obvious, because it has also become a fashion to be cynical and say life is pointless. Remember it is a comment on someone's poem titled 'Darkness'? So, it is necessary to show light to those in darkness. Then the content may be clichéd but it how you put it convincingly that matters... Doesn't it?

Thanks for the thought provoking comment. I like the constructive criticism!

You have some good ideas here but the subject matter (like the title) is a little cliched.

The metaphors of light and darkness have become so overused that there isn't anything original left in them.

Death is but a doorway to another life. There is light beyond the dark, there is joy beyond the sadness.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel - isnt that how you know you're out of it?

Hieeeeee, Esti, old buddy!
That makes me an optimist, without experience? Right?

But this optimist, is an incurable optimist even after, and with a lot of experience!

Believe me, I have been there and seen it all...

A very good poem here...
I have seen that light :)) but right now this tunnel is the longest I have ever walked in...
But I know and believe that the things who doesnt kill us, makes us stronger!!!
And if we havent seen the dark feeling then we could never see the bright and never be truly happy...
So thanks for a lovely write Zoya!!!
Regards and hugs
