In church the story of 4 men carrying a paralyzed friend on a mat was told. Unable to get past the crowd to see if Jesus could help him, broke convention, rules with no thought for themselves. Risk became irrelevant.
Where there are no solutions
That fit society’s rules
Pious platitudes twist
A listener’s ears
With meaningless platitudes
Grandiose structures
Extravagant possessions
Valuably valueless
Whispered as prosperity gospel
While the teachers covenant
Is replaced by contradictions
Whose pharisees
Preach Dominance
Preach destruction
Preach compliance
Preach war
Saving grace defies
Rules made to imprison
With deflection from humanity
That is desperations catalyst
Desperation yields
Actions exempt from fear
Where norms, rules
Become irrelevant
For compassion and care
Squash rules that deny
Access to a Devine prophecy
Witnessed by healing grace
While peace germinates
Seeds of defiance
Defined by musical brass notes
That pace rhythmic steps
Towards a savior’s legacy
That has been spiritually defined
