Broken Fountain Pen
There were timesI wrote with pen and paper
In Journals filled with scraps
Of incoherent thoughts
With a gifted fountain pen
From a letter writer
From a far away place
In Blue fountain ink
Letters of thoughts and feelings
Where anticipation awaited
The next chapter of prose
Detailing lonely lives
Scratching themes of paragraphs
In light blue cursive
Where anxiety left blobs of ink
On the stationary page
What returned were pages
Neatly penned and worded
On Blue paper with blue letters
Where stories survived
An archaic style relived
Where anticipation replaced
Immediate satisfaction
A patient exercise in fountain ink
Time and family trickled
Letters from weekly to monthly
To not at all as the ink dried
And the gifted pen stopped
Letters chronicling a history
Old school correspondence
And a gold tipped pen
That drew lines no more
