just imagination...

From A Park Bench

I could have reached out,
touched just the edge of your sleeve,
just the button of your jacket
felt the twang of greed and the stirrings
of a far greater emotion entangle me..
I could have taken one look into those
melted chocolate morsels you propose as eyes
and slid onto the floor beneath my own feet;
looking at you does that to me.
I could have felt one wisp of hair,
smelled the soapy cleanliness;
the cologne that can signify only you to my aromatic memory vault.
I could have drawn curtains around the day and captured you.
Instead, I simply watched you from here,
and sighed.
