I was stunned to learn he had been killed but he taught us a lot.

You showed us how to conquer our own fear of them.
You had a wonderful sense of humor and I believed that
the animals understood that.
So it is that you left us doing the very thing you loved to do.
While we will be sad and mourn your loss.
We still salute you for ability to face that which is fearsome
and know what FDR taught.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
