The Passion of a poet

The Passion of a poet

By Munir Mezyed

(1)

They questioned me about my religion
When my answer was poetry
They accused me of blasphemy...!

(2)

They want me to be an orator
A preacher
While I am not skilled
But in the language of sparrows...

(3)

The fools call me con artist...
The envious call me false diamond...
The fanatics call me atheist...
Would that change the reality of who I am...?!

(4)

Language is dry woods...
I come with the spark
Thus I ignite the fire...

Zoya Zaidi
I just love the last stanza!
Yes, you are called by different names by different people, but no one knows your your real essence... I have a poem to that effect, sense of alienation in one's own land: 'Longing to Belong...' Check it out if you like.
(((Hugs, you are such a delightful addition to the bay!)))
Love, Zoya
