Understand

I've ever seen the faded sun going down
Days full of emptiness slowing me down
Life seems to close every door where I go
No matter, where, when or how, it's you... I don't know.

But I'm gonna give in
To any chance of being loved by you
I know it will be so hard to begin
But my life isn't all up to you.

Life will be empty and grey
And I'll walk ahead with no way
Maybe it'll seem I have found my end
This is real and I just can not pretend
You'll understand and come back today.

I know I'm not what you've planned
Hurt me and make me understand.

A new day has come to me again
And I don't know if it's where, how or when
I gotta leave those memories when I was close to you
And it hurts when I still feel I belong to you
But you won't be mine
I've been sadly mistaken
Everything will be right crossing that line
Imagining what you've not given
Feeling you holding me tight
But it's been a dream at night.

Days will pass and it'll just be a scar
And I heal it, not turning back where you are.
You didn't see love in me
But someone will love more than you couldn't see
Making and bringing faith to me.

I won't be in the palm of your hand
This sorrow has helped me understand.

Thoughts are always making me up and down
But your memories
Will never bring me down
I'll have in heart other passions and stories
And you'll hate watching my glories.

One day you'll begin to realize
When you wake alone and sun doesn't rise
And salty rains will wet your eyes.

You'll think of me
You'll need me
But I just won't be.

Write it on the sand
It will force you to understand.

I've taken the pieces of my heart
Because it's time to see it start

You just let me go
Only to know
Life will shine without you
Making me not back to you...

Yes. Another one with which I can really connect. I do agree with Rob that "Life will Shine Without you" would make a fine poem.

Rob Graber
This conveys the sentiment rather well, but could use more focus--possibly, for example, by repetition of the especially fine line, "Life will shine without you." (That sounds like a great title for another poem, shorter and more fucused perhaps?)
