Must read Zoya's "The Missing Girls"
A sad and moving piece, it might help
make more sense of my poem if you do.

I'll shed the Tears[Inspired by Zoya]

I'll shed the tears that no one else will
Of things most people don't know
I am glad my eyes have been opened
to the horrible crime that's happening,
even as we speak, in India everyday.

So I'll shed the tears
for the missing girls
The ones man cruely takes away
I'll shed the tears
for their breath not taken,
for the steps they don't get to learn,
their first words that they won't learn to say
I'll shed the tears
Rivers my eyes will cry
For the missing girls
who, due to their sex, are born to die.....

For India's missing girls I will cry.

A very strong poem right from the start. Its about time people started realizing whats happening in other countries, there re so many problems in the world and it seems some are not seen soon enough.
Thanks for posting this great poem.

Zoya Zaidi
Thanks dear Lizzy, for this heart-felt poem;
IT MAKES ME FEEL MY POEM HAS GONE HOME...
Yes, it is a matter of grave concern these days, we have now 60 million girls missing in India due to this inhuman, heartless practice of Gender discrimination, the government is just waking up to it and desperately trying to implement the law against sex determination more strictly... But the corruption has seeped in too deep, and USG (Ultrasonography) clinics have made millions... It is already too late... But, let hope that it is better late than never...
(((Hugs for he compassionate response)))
Love, Zoya

Im deeply touched that u being so far away would shed tears for us!
All Indian girls are mistreated..whether they are killed at birth, abandoned in dustbins or molested by fathers...
Its extremely heartbreaking!

And now I'm crying aswell...
I've got three girls myself and they are the most precious things in my life ever aswell as my son. And it breaks my heart that the gender in other parts of the world should be deciding if you will live or not.... That's so terrifying that I don't even have the words to describe my feelings.
Good writing here!
