Working on our own at anything without the help of an unseen Hand, can often produce only lean crops.

Working Together

Hoeing is hard work.
It takes a strong back, strong arms, a caring attitude,
a loving heart and
a determined mind that tells you
one must hoe before you harvest.
YOU have all of these assests.
Yet, sometimes, it may seem unfair, for all I
must do, is drop a few seeds in the soil.

Sometimes, you get discouraged
because the soil is rock-hard!
It takes a stronger back. Stronger arms. More care.
More love. More determination.
You cannot expect a harvest if you don't hoe.
And all I must do, is drop a few seeds in the ground
over which you toiled, sweated and cried -
This does seem unfair: I know that dropping a few seeds in the soil
is nothing compared to hoeing.

Yet, hoeing would be fruitless without the seeds
that I've been entrusted.
You seem to do most of the watering, too -
Although that is something at which we take turns.
Even soil, seeds and water without growth, is meaningless.
That, only He who never gives up on the two of us,
produces.

This was a real pleasure to read and though the hand may remain unseen it can often be felt.

your metaphors are simply great... told you that already, i know :) the message i understand from this is: life is hard when we try to do it all on our own... need to open up our ways to different venues to make it not so difficult... 'cause every little bit helps... something to that effect :) very good poem :f *hugs* xx

A great text
to live by re life.

It is true that
for anything but
esp. love you have to
work hard as you put
it "hoe" the ground[work]
first to get the result[s]
you want.

Hi betsy firefly

Normally at this time of year it would be my chore at the allotment,
But I'm giving it all up this year to help with the growing of another kind of seed, to which I've been entrusted to watch grow
into fullest maturity, loved the poem by the way 
