Picnic Of Empty Cuddles (co-write with Peter Arnold)

An angel in my time of need
Meeting in a quaint cafe
Nervously sharing coffee and cake,
Mutual respect and love born
Through staring into each other's eyes
Didn't matter to me that you were a larger size.

Neck surgery needing a hospital visit
Supporting me through rehab and recovery
My angel constantly by my side,
Sharing picnics filled with love and laughter
When six months down the way
the cold shoulder to me you gave
When one night with you I couldn't stay.

A month or two passed
With hardly any word said
At our picnic spot in the park
We went, hoping our love was not dead
In the embrace that we shared
We realised we were going through the motions
Alas! There were no real, tender feelings
'Twas only a Picnic Of Empty Cuddles.

Liz...What a beautifully, tender and sad poem...

The line, "a Picnic Of Empty Cuddles" is a master-stroke"
