When the lies and the pain
of misconceptions and greed
are just too much to bear,
close your eyes and I'll be there -
behind your soft lids, behind
hazel-green orbs of sadness.
Feel me there, beside you.
I hold you in your sleep, and
cradle you as you dream.

When the weight of emptiness
from broken dreams
and false feelings
are more than you can stand,
hear me whisper in your ear:
you're a wonder to behold,
a precious star among men.
Feel me there beside you
as I hold your hand.

When you wrap the music
around your ears,
blocking out a world of pain
and harsh words, hear me
as I sing your praises
in hushed tones.
Feel my arms as they surround you
and hold you close.

When you've finally had the last
of the darkness, and had
your fill of hurt
and betrayal,
Know that I'll be there
to carry you home.

This is a softly beautiful poem that speaks of the nurturer inside of us (women.) While it appears to have been written by a woman for her man, it could also be a mother writing to her child.

This piece really touched a nerve with me. A sense of home is a luxury some men never knows. Anyone who can call your presence home is a lucky one. A very communicative piece.
Well done, Sage.

A very sentimental poem that I'm sure will relate to many. Very powerful indeed. Keep writing!

Regards,
John.
