Lighter Than Fall

I had a friend who could rescind

Gravity with a weightless will,

Flying before the thistle wind

One lonely wishful to fulfill,

The morning sun shone in the sky

As high as Heaven on silence wings,

Above these things I watched her fly

To bring the leaven back to Earth's springs,

And as up she rose the dawn light spread

Like wistful rumors no one may recall,

While suspended by the merest thread

She left the world much lighter than it's fall,
