the orange grove

the lilies of your kiss
pale and lasting

it is what I wanted
it was not what I got

the lantern of your stare
illuminating my longing

it is what I wanted
it is not what I got

the season turned orange
your cravings purple

it was not what I wanted
it was what I got

the bones made a shape
of a heart when they broke

it was not what I wanted
it was what I got

the wind took your name
but it did not remove your sound

it was not what I wanted
it is now all I`ve got

Julie Shehata
A wonderful, painfully beautiful read.
Thank you for sharing.

I agree with the other commentators, and this is an absolute favourite!

A powerful poem and very well structured, the images are very effective, the resentment well convayed. Leaves a certain after taste of sadness and anguish in the heart lingering for along time after readind this poesy.
***hugs dear Laurdes for another piece of art from your artful pen**

Kathy Lockhart
such strong and silently sweet power in your words. There is an undercurrent of turbulence that rages underneath this beautifully flowing stream of words. Lourdes, you are powerful in your presentation of your deepest thoughts. Excellent again and again. Kathy (U)
