written last week when I was severely depressed...here, I was past the initial half-dead stage and was burning up inside with anger I couldn't let out...the first poem I've ever written with a three-line per phrase format.


Marked For Disappointment

Sometimes, even the sweetest memories
are clouded by disappointment
sour, bitter, like water at a public fountain.

Disappointment is my curse;
sometimes, it seems as though I was marked at birth---
marked for a lifetime of shattered dreams.

In my core, I am wick---green and alive
though that's easy to forget at times
those times when the most resilient souls can't help breaking.

I can't help you.
I'm sorry.
I can't even help myself.

"Expect nothing of me; then you won't be disappointed."

i don't think i expect anything from you.. do I? hmmmm gah making me second guess myself!... not that i don't do that on a regular basis it's usually more of contradicting than doubting anyway very nice!..... i'm not disappointed in you if it helps! i'm very proud of you in fact!.. for what would be i guess that you tolerate me! ahahahaha.... most of the time :D

So there's this water fountain in the hallway outside my spanish classroom that usually is pretty good. Today, the water coming out of it was so cloudy that it was WHITE. Not kidding.

Anyway...

I love the idea of a "wick core" -- because it's an expression that I've actually never heard before. what exactly does "wick" mean? [Don't you just love ignorant people like me?]

But secretly I expect out of you and am never disappointed.
