A Peek Behind

Behind the scenes they make things happen no one sees
What lies buried under generations of dirty webs of human conceit.
There are those gone blind from the drunken dazzle of power
In love with the sounds their voices make they seem to say an awful lot
But behind the scenes they move the pieces in such evil ways
They say crime doesn't pay, yet endorse the system that robs you bare
Maybe crime doesn't pay those who have no power to prevent it
But they who operate with extra sets of invisible hands
Trained to pick everyone's pocket while lying like the devil on TV
They manage to get themselves well compensated and how
It is done is quite the sleight of hand which moves unseen
Behind the scenes.

Well said. You're not likely to be a criminal when you're the one making the laws.
