true tales

2021-11-21
Life is a movie. The credits run towards the end when you realize some people had bigger parts than you thought. I love the analogy. Don't let it go before the end.

The Only Eagerness Left

2021-10-27
I feel quite similar my dear friend. Hugs.

too real to fake it

2021-10-18
I am so glad I did not miss this gem. And I love seeing the fourth wall smashed. :)

Summer's Fading

2021-10-01
Even though it is sparing in life you describe it beautifully. Grandpas whiskers made me smile. :)

warmth

2021-09-29
A wonderful string of poems. I too am "alone when not alone".

NOBODY

2021-08-20
I like the change of rhyme. We are all nobody until somebody loves us (as the song says).

A Dark Day

2021-08-10
I love minimalist poetry and this is so interesting. I hope opaque does not triumph for too long.

Dad

2021-08-10
Heartfelt and so well expressed. We all have regrets unfortunately.

Sunday Morning Apathy

2021-08-10
I can feel it in each word. Cold coffee sucks, I always forget I have made it and have to warm it up in the microwave. You captured the feeling well Joe.

In the Heat of Summer

2021-08-07
So beautiful. It is like a bright painting. And the ending was superb. Can I come and live where you are? lol

The Listener

2021-08-05
Don't be too hard on yourself. That is modern life. We turn off to others expressing their feeling. it was nice that you wrote this in his honour.

The pathless path

2021-08-01
Yes, and it is freeing in a way.

Stygma

2021-08-01
Exactly how I feel at the moment.

scale

2021-07-28
It sounds wonderful. How could life there not be grand? You convey so much in a small piece. Bright blue doors always look great on very old houses.

Shadow Kingdom

2021-07-28
Nicely done. It flows so well.

Like a Babe, I Nurse at My Muse's Breasts

2021-07-28
Here's to the double breasted muse. An inspiring bird. I enjoyed this.

Eyes

2021-07-28
The eyes have it. The last one is so sad. Interesting form. I particularly liked "Your impassioned eyes hold my breathless self in loving thrall".

Finding peace in silent ease

2021-07-28
Calming words indeed.

There's calmness in that waking hour

2021-07-28
Not sure if I like the form but this was a nice. I like that time when you first wake up and are feeling reasonably okay. It doesn't last long though.

Freedom Should You Dare

2021-07-26
The harsh freedom of the sea. They asked John Lennon if he would "take it all back" and he said "“if I could be a (beeping) fisherman I would". Nicely explained Joe.

IF ONLY SABINA HAD BEEN PASSING BY

2021-07-26
Sounds like they needed that singer. Nice story Ken.

Hope

2021-07-26
A fitting analogy. Hope can be like that.

Bun Pin

2021-07-26
What a wonderful piece. You hold our attention to a single moment with beautiful imagery. I was captured with "green and leafy pallettes of this moment" and held mesmerized until the comforting end.

the uppermost leaf

2021-07-25
Nicely thought out. Here's to the eldest of every family.

Contretemps

2021-07-25
This is unfortunately often true. Nicely described.

It didn't rain,again

2021-07-24
I love the language used here. Especially "marigolds gossip tightly in their beds". Was he an entomologist or a botanist? Godetias are quite exquisite.

The Zen Public Servant

2021-07-24
I think you have definitely spotted a member of the servante publicaus family. Although these days their plumage is a bit different. The cracked shoes made me smile.

Ramblings 568

2021-07-24
Hugs my friend. Yes, it is often those we hold dear that cause the most stress.

Beware the Lord Skye

2021-07-24
I enjoyed this. The rhymes are great. Right up to the last one which finishes it off nicely.

With thanks: a brief vacation

2021-07-24
Take care Steven. I enjoyed our exchanges.

"Mysterious Ways" Isn't a Satisfactory Answer

2021-07-23
Ha ha. I love this. We all get frustrated with things and feel a bit like this at times.

A Day With Starlight Solo

2021-07-23
Personification in poetry is always hard. The suggestions alluded to must connect and give the reader the correct idea of the relationship involved. You have done it wonderfully. The dressing and clothing is like you are caring for a loving partner who cannot do these things for herself. A carer. I agree with Tom, it is one of your best.

Par for the Course

2021-07-23
Unfortunately it is like that sometimes. That's why old people have cabinets full of pills.

Windship Fancy

2021-07-21
This flows beautifully. the rhymes are great too. Ennui is an odd word relative to its meaning. I first knew of it from the Michael Nesmith song "Grand Ennui" and it still perplexes me to this day.
The visual references here are wonderful as well Joe.

Us

2021-07-21
So simple and yet so good.

Prayer

2021-07-20
A wonderful prayer Joe. The world is quite dark at the moment.

WITH THANKS TO TERRY PRATCHETT

2021-07-20
Well said Ken. “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”

Thoughts On Herds

2021-07-19
A clever extrapolation. English is a strange language.

words

2021-07-19
What a wonderful idea and a clever friend.

Tropic of Cancer

2021-07-14
I clicked on this thinking I would read some Henry Miller debauchery. But I got a wonderful seafaring piece. The descriptions are so visceral. I would love to get hold of some of that meringue foam. I have no sweets after my rather pedestrian lunch. :)

A line is existential

2021-07-12
Deep and interesting.

our intention and so gentle . . . this rain

2021-07-11
I like them both. The first flows so well. The second has that odd word "torpor" in it. When you say "lethargic" you can feel the laziness, "torpor" sounds more like an aggressive animal. Sorry I am digressing. I love the idea of the dream music at the end. I always enjoy your work although I am often not in a frame of mind to concentrate.

hillfolk blues

2021-07-11
I like this! Great imagery in metaphors.

Lessons

2021-07-10
I am glad it has a good ending. Hugs.

How the Sausage is Made

2021-07-10
I am more scared of you than the snake. That means the poem served its purpose well.

Musings On Rain

2021-07-09
You paint a vivid picture. I have not seen the word enthalpy in poetry before. Enthalpy in poetry rhymes.

this is me

2021-07-09
You always create something (good).

Roaring silence

2021-07-09
I wish i could quieten my mind. This portrays serenity so well.

HOW I GOT MY NEPHEWS INTO READING

2021-07-09
I loved Spike Milligan's books. Especially the pictures. :)

Keeping It Together

2021-06-19
I hope you get answers and relief soon my dear friend.
