There's an art to being understated, true things do not need trumpets to announce their existence, and here is a truthful description.

Deadly

Oooowf, so many references. There was at first a quick read through, praising myself thinking yes, yes I know that, or that, thinking to myself, this is charming, sing-a-long...but, as the vernacular goes " missy just got educated!" Rather, in Dublin's case, illuminated. So, on further inspection I'm happy to say it's not so much a biddy, biddy, bum poem, more Sonny, I've been bad a binged to death

Now, after that comment, I think I need a lie down.

Hopefully not, imagination is the truest escape. I'm thinking of Mandela in his cell,

The Blank Page

I'm believing of late, our brains reach saturation, and therefore a necessary emptying , a brutal cull only does good. This lack of mind musely, ( intentional) , this blankness of yours, can only result in a fresh linen blanketness enabling Morpheus to fill your dreams with inspiration soon.

What my Nan said to me

I'm laughing, but not at you, with you, more smiling at a familiar memory of loved ones. My paternal Grandma had a thick Black Country accent ( please, readers, this has no disrespectful meaning, the name comes from an area so named during the Industrial revolution and the heavy smoked air from the foundaries, and coal seams therei

BOOK STEPS

I don't care what they say, kindles are all fine and that, but, no child should ever not know the mystique and enjoyment of opening a book, the delight of re- reading an old favourite, the tactile experience...etc etc

Bun Pin

2021-07-26
AHH, Griffonner, that's hard to explain.
I was trying to convey that this woman to this man, is everything he's ever wanted. Her hair, normally kept so neat and tight in a bun, is a symbol I suppose of everything that represents her true self. Her hair, mesmerises him. She knows this and chooses to reveal it. It holds her strengths as a woman, her fortitude, her ability to make and nurture life itself, her tender gentle side . The trembling roses, which are buried deep amongst the beauty, and enticement are her frailty, which she is willing to expose- chestnut the colour of her hair, although, I see it could be read as a more intimate moment, shall we say, and I even kind of like that it can be read that way too.
Thank you so.much for asking

A Tree Stood Here

Although I enjoyed reading all of these verses, I can read verses 1,3 and 6 as stand alone poems, but above all, verse 6is concise, and one I think many will hold close in the current pandemic situation.

Beware the Lord Skye

2021-07-24
Methinks the advisor is up to no good here - what gains would a servant get on warning off a visitor...does he expect a crossing of silver for his advice? Would the visitor do well to trust such a soul? Does he even really know Lord Skye? Ah questions, questions, methinks also the modern world has me me ever so weary of similar folk

The Zen Public Servant

Rarely have I seen the like in towns here. But, I like the idea that this chap hasn't lost his sense of self pride. No dirty nails, or bowed head. I suppose, he would get more eye contact, which says a whole lot more about me , yes.
