Salvaging the Heart

Written 2020-06-13

It's the shift in the dynamic that soars.

Something happened to make this be.

Only, I know I haven't done anything,

But apparently, you're feeling something.

You must be, 'cause everything changed.

And then add to that, your "there, there" pat-

Pats on my head, they're far from endearing.

Why you're treating me like an idiot evades me,

Or that you seemingly believe I won't notice it

Is starting to be beyond my heart's endurance.

What comes across the strongest is how

Dishonest you've been with me for a while.

Something's up, but I'm at the point I won't

Insist anymore, I'll save my energy, I must,

'Cause you clearly don't care to sort it.

So, this is it, it has to be, my efforts end here.

I'm done hurting for your whatever this is.

Angels (Apparently)

- observations... things people say... thoughts...

We are two people who by any standards

Have been through way more than

We should have been made to go through

And that's putting it in the lightest terms

Those who come close enough to find out

All have the same reaction as concerns

How overwhelmingly tragic it's all been

And, for most, they'll earnestly feel awed

The most common remark that gets made

Is the genuine wonderment they feel

About how having been so mistreated

Hasn't hardened our hearts to others

We are viewed as very kind and loving

Apparently to an unusual level

I don't know

You're just you; I'm just me

The way I figure it is that we know pain

We know hurt and we know devastation

Caused by the thoughtless behaviors of others

Why go out there and do the same we suffered?

There's really no effort to put into that

Whether thinking about it or doing

Our natural response is to make things better

Hell finally escaped, we won't allow its creation

Especially not by us

That'd be senseless

It gets a little hard at times

Not letting darkness settle its chimes.

Don't really know why it persists,

Since life is good; yet, it just insists.

Don't particularly like its company;

I'd, a whole lot more, rather be happy.

How else to put it?

I love PoetBay.

The space to create,

To exchange,

To meet good people.

It's all here.

I wouldn't stay away

For the whole world.

Mayhem on PoetBay

Written 2020-06-01

- a less proud moment in PoetBay's time...

Remember the period of time on PoetBay,

Late 2007 to 2008, around there,

When everything was going haywire?

The "Todays' Texts" was flooded

With flame wars between members,

Adding, dramas of infidelity accusations.

A whole bunch of ugliness flying around,

Mean comments to one another...

Just total mayhem and overpowering

Unease that things were descending

To a level that would never recover.

Thinking back on that, it's hard to believe

That our community ever got that way...

Very thankful all of that is way, way behind us!

Before one goes off ridin' a high horse

It may be well to consider facts, of course

There are always two sides to a situation

'Cause one side hurts isn't a determination

Being swept in by an emotional outburst

That a friend is seemingly in a lot of hurt

Although a bit understandable

Is still nonetheless unreliable

So before you go off ridin' a high horse

Facts are that fairness was in play, of course

If you're going to lie and steal from others

Expectations are that I will give a bother

Having to say something was warranted

All possibility for discussion granted

Unable to face being found out

Is (again) all this was, is, really about

Very unfortunately in the nasty habit

Of struggling so bad with that little bit

You know, telling the truth, being honest

When found out, things become ruthless

War hammers out, survival mode in gear

She'll flip it around and make you shed tears

Discrediting you will be the name of the game

She'll use everything to make herself look tame

The poor victim being attacked

When the hidden actual fact

She's the one who created the whole deal

Threw you in the middle of her story unreal

All this so no one would find out...

She'll make sure to put you out.

So before you go ridin' your high horses

Trust I had very good reasons, of course
